What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy combines solution focused talking therapy with hypnosis. It uses practical, structured, and well-researched strategies to help people make significant positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time.

It helps to retrain your brain to notice the positives in your life and encourages you to discover your own inner resources.  Crucially, in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, therapists look at what the client wants to achieve (the solution) rather than at whatever prompted them to seek help (the problem). This means that we do not need to go over any old troubles or traumas to get to the reason why you feel the way you do. We simply look to the future and work towards where you want to be.

I will be helping you to empty your ‘stress bucket’ and teaching you how to stop it filling up so quickly. This enables you to get out of survival mode, which will improve your quality of sleep and increase your ability to cope with your day to day life. You will find yourself feeling happier, more motivated, more confident and you will also find it so much easier to work towards your goals.

In each session, I will ask you about what good things have been happening this week.

This helps to engage your left prefrontal cortex, enabling you to be in a positive state of mind for the trance work. We will also have a positive solution focused discussion.

We will scale how you are feeling and each week we will be setting small achievable goals to help you move up that scale and get to where you want to be.

We will then go in to the trance / hypnosis, which will help consolidate our positive discussion and help switch your mind to ‘solution focused’ mode. It will also leave you feeling deeply relaxed and stress free.
